چکیده

Objective – to study the dynamics of level neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S-100 protein in blood serum cerebrospinal fluid children with various features viral encephalitis course outcome define their role diagnostics prognosis. Material methods. 48 aged from 1 month 15 years were examined. Analysis NSE was performed by method hardphase immune-enzyme analysis. Results. A reliable increase identified comparison control group both acute reconvalescence periods. During period higher values found herpesvirus etiologies varicella zoster encephalitis, during protein. In case most severe disease reliably patients condition. Children convulsive syndrome demonstrated concentration than without convulsions. formation stable neurologic deficiency there an recovered patients. It also that if >7.0 ng/ml, it possible predict unfavourable sensitivity 61.54% specificity 71.43%. The highest proteins dead patient herpes encephalitis. Conclusion. pediatric is characterized diagnostic prognostic significance, demonstrates pathogenesis can be used for therapy correction.

Relation between electroconvulsive therapy , cognitive side e V ects , neuron specific enolase , and protein S - 100

Objective—To investigate whether electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) induces brain tissue damage expressed as an increase in neuron specific enolase and protein S-100. Methods—A total of 179 serial measurements of S-100 and NSE serum concentrations were performed on 14 patients during the course of a bilaterally stimulated ECT series. Cognitive performance was assessed by psychometric testing carri...

Age-related changes of neuron-specific enolase, S-100 protein, and myelin basic protein concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid.

Studies on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) concentrations of neuron-specific enolase (NSE), S-100 protein, and myelin basic protein (MBP) in patients with neurological lesions indicate a quantitative relation between the degree of cell damage in the central nervous system (CNS) and the concentration of these CNS-specific proteins in CSF. Thus NSE, S-100, and MBP could be of use as markers for destruc...

Serum S-100 and neuron-specific enolase for prediction of regaining consciousness after global cerebral ischemia.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The aim of our study was to assess the use of S-100 protein (S-100) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for the prediction of patients' regaining consciousness after acute global cerebral ischemia. METHODS Sixty-four unconscious patients were followed until the return of consciousness or until death/vegetative state. Serum and CSF sa...

Serum neuron specific enolase is increased in pediatric acute encephalitis syndrome

PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate whether serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) was expressed in acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) that causes neuronal damage in children. METHODS This prospective observational study was conducted in the pediatric neurology ward of Soetomo Hospital. Cases of AES with ages ranging from 1 month to 12 years were included. Cases that were categorized as simpl...
